At a historic juncture in which the working class seems to lack momentum and no longer acts as a class in its own right but rather as a class in the service of its exploiters, on this day of struggle and defiance against the world of capital, our Party reaffirms the vitality and necessity of this struggle.
This May Day is marked by war, bombings, deaths, and devastation. The race toward World War III has begun.
The First World War, which devastated Europe in particular, was not halted at its inception by revolution; but towards its conclusion and in the immediate aftermath. The proletariat was ready to take to the streets, first and foremost in Russia, Germany, and also Italy, led and guided by left-wing proletarian parties and the Communist International.
The subsequent degeneration of the Communist Parties, which accompanied the Stalinist counterrevolution, resulted in leading the proletariat onto the battlefields of the second imperialist slaughter, and then, exhausted by the war and deprived of revolutionary leadership, into the arduous postwar reconstruction under “democratic” and post-fascist regimes that represented a continuation of fascism in their expression of the class rule of Capital.
Today, the winds of war once again accompany the crisis of overproduction, which demands a new cycle of destruction of commodities and productive forces, of cities and factories, and a new massacre of proletarians, all of which is already underway in various war zones. All of this is intended to give rise to a new cycle of accumulation that will allow capitalism to survive itself.
The third imperialist war is already underway in various parts of the world, a contingent expression of the will of the world’s leading gendarme, the United States of America, gripped by crisis and ready to unleash its firepower to secure raw materials and dominance over markets it cannot otherwise maintain. But the other major actors, China, Russia, and, trailing behind, Europe, are also rapidly rearming in anticipation of the spread of the conflict, which looms as a massive catastrophe. Soon, images of death and destruction, already not far from us, will become part of daily life in our countries, with young proletarians conscripted and sent to the front.
Comrades, workers,
This fate is not inevitable. If the working class is able to fight back, by refusing to show solidarity with its own states and ruling classes, by mobilizing in the class struggle against the sacrifices imposed for the war effort, and with a view toward its own emancipation through revolution, the march toward war mobilization can be stopped!
In opposition to spineless pacifist propaganda, only the preparation and unfolding of the revolutionary movement of the working classes can halt the third imperialist war. They must orient and mobilize themselves with this perspective in mind, reconstructing their organizations for economic defense and regaining the leadership of their own Class Party.
